Program Summary:

The Building Cross-Cultural Competence: C.A.R.E. Method training is ideal for participants seeking an understanding of Cross-Cultural Competence and the importance of providing Cross-Culturally competent services. During the CARE training participants will advance their understanding of cultural competence, unpack culture and its influence on perceptions, and identify strategies to increase cross cultural competence within personal lives and organizations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to examine personal understanding of cross-cultural competence.

  • Participants will be able to recall strategies to engage in cross-cultural competence.

  • Participants will be able to identify cultures influence in the workplace.

Audience & Skill Level

Introductory

This session is designed to introduce mental health clinicians (Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and related professions) to the topic. Those with little to no experience or previous training in this area will benefit.

Curtisia D. Battle

LPC

Curtisia “Denae” Battle attended the HBCU of Langston University in Oklahoma. She received both her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling. Wanting to focus on how the human body, its’ physical conditions, and its’ biological aspects affects the mental and behavioral elements of overall health, Curtisia became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oklahoma. Her dominant focus is the psychiatric genre.

Curtisia believes that trauma, chronic illness, depression, anxiety, low self esteem, disabilities, and more can happen; but it doesn’t have to stop your journey. She has a passion for motivating and teaching others to believe in yourself, modify your thoughts, and your behavior can change for the better. But it all starts and ends with you. Through multiple modalities, Curtisia can help you increase your personal choices to Be Confident, Be Comfortable, and Be a Healthier You.

Curtisia has attended trainings and certifications in the subjects of: Well Body, Mental Health First Aid, PsychoTherapeutic Medications, Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Standards, Ethics, Multicultural Focus, Children and Family Who Suffered From Trauma, Drug/Alcohol Abuse, Understanding Individuals With Disabilities Are Human, Technology and Autism, and more just to name a few. Curtisia is the owner of her private practice “Healthier Me Enterprises LLC, a therapeutic, education and wellness center. She is the mother to a Son Khane, and a daughter Khanaya. While also a mother figure to many. She is a hometown girl of Tulsa, Oklahoma. While also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.

Ohio CSWMFT Approval 

This training is approved for counselor, social work, and marriage and family therapy continuing education.In addition, it is approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board for chemical dependency continuing education. Check CE Broker for detailed breakdown of CE types (provider number50-24074). 


NOTE- it is possible that your local board will accept CE’s through a different state (i.e. a provider Colorado may still receive credit for a training sponsored/approved/credentialed by the OCSWMFT).  Please check with your local board’s to verify whether OCSWMFT CE’s are accepted.
