What You'll Learn

  • Examine the concept of Prolonged Exposure Therapy and how survivors can emotionally process what has happened to alleviate PTSD symptoms.

  • Apply psychoeducation to demonstrate typical reactions to trauma. Be able to show client how to do paced breathing

  • Determine a client’s exposure hierarchy needs and clearly classify their SUDS scale

  • Determine the necessary steps toward orienting a client to stage 2 DBT and preparing them to benefit from prolonged exposure

  • Determine the basic rigid/flexible and extreme/non-extreme beliefs that clients may have. Also be able to identify the consequences that clients may manifest as Unhealthy/Healthy Negative Emotions using REBT methods

  • Examine challenges to irrational beliefs by clients and assist clients in substituting rational for irrational beliefs using REBT

Intermediate-

This session is designed to build upon understanding/experience mental health clinicians (Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and related professions) already have in this area. It is recommended that participants have previous experience and/or training in this area in order to benefit.

  • 3:30pm - 4:00pm Frequent Problems

  • 4:00pm Q & A Evaluations

Course Credit

For course credit, participants must:

  • Attend and engage with the entire training.

  • Complete the post-training evaluation.

  • Certificates will be sent within seven business days of confirming attendance and receiving the evaluation.

Charity Chaney is a professional counselor in the state of Ohio and the lead therapist of Mindfully’s DBT team. Charity also leads DBT skills classes where she helps groups apply DBT principles and learn new skills.

Ohio CSWMFT Approval 

This training is approved for counselor, social work, and marriage and family therapy continuing education.In addition, it is approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board for chemical dependency continuing education. Check CE Broker for detailed breakdown of CE types (provider number50-24074). 


ASWB ACE Approval 

Mindfully (ACEP provider #1862), is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 6/27/2024 – 6/27/2027. Social workers completing this course receive 3 clinical continuing education credits.
